Success Story – Curious case of Dunsin Arowosade

On 12th of May, 2017,  a need was brought to goodgiving by Dr Yemisi Abidakun (goodgiving volunteer doctor) from Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, Ekiti State to raise funds for an 18 months old girl; D. Arowosade.

Born without anal opening, she needed a surgical procedure to create an anal opening which the parents could not afford.

In the meantime, she had been passing faeces through the vaginal opening which caused so much pains and discomfort.

Apparently it resulted into recurrent vaginal infections and her life hung in the balance.

Thanks to donors, goodgiving provided N109,000 on 28th May, 2017 after confirmation of all accounts using other volunteer doctors in the hospital.

The surgery date was moved around a number of times for administrative and logistics reasons but we were constantly updated via emails and phone calls by our volunteer doctors, Dunsin’s parents and her guardian, Mrs R. Alabi.

Eventually the surgery date was fixed for 29th of November, 2017 and it took place at Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti,  Ekiti State.

The surgery was successful and Dunsin is recovering pretty fast.

A life saved for <$1000. More to go.
